Shaping the future of 15-min cities through youth participation
Project’s vision
Future where cities are designed around people, not cars
By embracing the 15-minute city (15mC) concept, we aim to transform urban mobility cultures into proximity-based lifestyles that enhance accessibility, sustainability, and well-being. Through participatory foresight methods, CONIFER actively involves children, young people, carers, and teachers in shaping equitable, inclusive, and vibrant urban spaces.
Civic Labs
With local activities in 6 cities...
… we explore how different mobility cultures perceive accessibility, proximity, and urban living. Using gamification, art, design thinking, and AI-driven approaches, CONIFER develops actionable roadmaps to inspire cities across Europe.
Project objectives
Understand mobility cultures...
…of children and young people by analyzing the perceptions, needs, and desires of stakeholders in 6 cities: Brussels, Kortrijk, Matosinhos, Budapest, Cologne, and Torun.
Develop a participatory foresight method...
…that integrates scenario building, gamification, AI, and creative approaches to shape inclusive and sustainable urban planning.
Empower communities by...
…ensuring that children, young people, and vulnerable groups have a voice in designing proximity-based cities.
Create transferable solutions...
…through a 15mC branding package, policy recommendations, and methodological blueprints for European cities.
